Safari Overview & Itinerary
One of our popular safaris booked from January to March is the 4 Days 3 nights Wildebeest Calving Safaris – Tanzania Tours. The calving season of the Great Migration usually takes place between January and February of each year. While the route of the migration has remained the same for thousands of years, the exact timings of the journey vary depending on seasonal rainfall, so these timings are merely a guideline.
Between January and March, the wildebeest herds are usually in the south of Tanzania’s Serengeti or Ndutu Conservation Area, where they seek out fresh grazing and give birth. The wildebeest make their way as far south as the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (although not quite into the Crater itself), where they spread out across the lush plains to feast on the fresh grasses that spring up after the rains. These plains, with their abundance of nourishment, are also the perfect place for female wildebeest to give birth.
The wildebeest aren’t alone in their migration; they’re accompanied by scores of zebra and gazelle who perform the valuable function of eating the longer grasses that are less appetizing to juvenile wildebeest. Once the zebra and gazelle have grazed, the soft, nutritious shoots lie exposed – perfect for young wildebeest calves to nibble on with ease.
While on our 4 Days 3 nights Wildebeest Calving Safaris will ensure you witness amazing wildlife interactions and sightings. So much hunting and killings happen during this time when big cats and scavengers enjoy the plenty of food available in the plains and the conservation area. The best short way to enjoy a wildebeest calving tour is by booking our 4 days wildebeest calving safaris.
Our short 4 Days 3 nights Wildebeest Calving Safaris – Tanzania Tours exposes you to a more exciting safari adventure in Tanzania that encompasses the best wildlife sightings and more than 8000 wildebeest calves born daily. Our team has compiled a list of some of our favorite eco-friendly camps that cater for this epic season in the Serengeti, offering your clients front-row seats to this miracle of nature.
Safari Itinerary
On the first day of our 4 Days 3 nights Wildebeest Calving Safaris – Tanzania Tours will start from Arusha. On our first day, our tour leader will be at your residence / Airport to pick us up for a safari to Ndutu by 7.00 am. A brief of the safari and packing will be done. We will drive straight to Ndutu.
After a 3 hours drive, we shall check in to our lodge / Camp for lunch and relax before embarking on our evening game drive. Our two hours game drives will take us through the extensive park of Ndutu Serengeti Region in search of the big five and big cats.
With the help of our amazing professional guide, we will be sure to spot a few if not all animals. We will be lucky to visit the crater and spot more wildlife inside. It’s one of the protected regions of the Ndutu Serengeti Area.
Later check in back to the lodge / Camp for dinner and overnight
We continue with our 4 Days 3 nights Wildebeest Calving Safaris – Tanzania Tours to Ndutu and Serengeti. Wake up to prepare for breakfast and check out for a full-day game drive into the park. We will be lucky to spot a huge number of wildebeests giving birth to young calves as well as a huge number of big cats around. These expose them to predators since they are easy prey to feast on. Our lunch will be served in the bush while on a game drive.
On our third day of 4 Days 3 nights Wildebeest Calving Safaris – Tanzania Tours, we shall visit the Ngorongoro Crater on a full-day game drive as well.
After our 2 hours of afternoon spotting and sights, we shall drive back to our camp.
Dinner and overnight at the camp / Lodge
Marking the last day of our 4 Days 3 nights Wildebeest Calving Safaris – Tanzania Tours, we wake up early for breakfast and check out by 9.00 am for a short game drive of one hour before checking out of the park and driving back to Arusha / Kilimanjaro Airport / Namanga Border
